How to take your own measurements

If you can get a friend or family member to help you take your measurements then please do, it's a lot more accurate than trying to do it yourself.
When measuring make sure you wear a bra that fits you well, and at most a smooth tightish top - nothing bulky that will dis
tort the measurements. Use a proper tape-measure  keeping the tape measure close without pulling it too tightly or leaving too slack.

Accurate measurements are absolutely essential. Please don't be tempted to fib as it will just lead to a poor fit. Your measurements will be completely confidential.

Please measure as follows (the diagram above is colour coded to the measurements required).

BUST - Measure right around your body at the fullest part of the bust over the nipples - keeping the tape measure level.

UNDERBUST - Measure right around the ribcage immediately under the breasts.

WAIST  - Measure your natural waist between your bottom rib and your hip bone.
If unsure where that is, tie a length of string around your middle and move from side to side and it will settle at your waist (many modern clothes are cut to sit below the waist, so don't use them as a guide)

HIGH HIP - Measure right around your hips approximately 3 inches below your natural waist.

HIP
- Around the fullest part of your hips. 6-7 inches below the waist.

SIDE LENGTH - Measure from under your arms down to your waist

UNDERBUST TO WAIST - From the underwire of your bra at the centre of the cup to your waist.

NIPPLE TO UNDERBUST

BACK WIDTH - Measure the width of your back level with your nipples but only going from underarm to underarm

BACK LENGTH - where you wish the top of the corset to sit. For underbusts, take note of where the back of your bra sits as the corset should ideally overlap it so you don't get an awkward, uncomfortable gap between your bra and the corset. For overbusts, take note of your shoulderblades and your posture. If your shoulderblades protrude noticably they may  rub on the bones and cause you discomfort. Also any chubby bits that might be forced up by the corset. This will help me know whether the corset needs to be cut lower, or higher at the back.

SEAT-Sit down and measure from your waist to where you want the bottom front of the corset to be. You don't want to have any discomfort when sitting, which would happen if the corset was too long.

USUAL BRA SIZE/CUP SIZE.

CORSETTED WAIST - The size you usually corset down to, or would like to. For those new to corsetry no more than 4 inches smaller than your natural waist measurement.Try pulling the tape in tightly and seeing how much smaller it goes. That measurement will give me a rough idea how much squish you have.
